World Forest Day: Kurian’s artificial forest finds place in book of records

The man-made forest at Ayamkudy, called mango meadows has now been placed in the Universal Records Forum World(URF) and Limca book of Record for developing the maximum number of agriculture and horticulture species in a minimum area of just 30 acres.

Key Facts:

  • It is a vibrant and self-sustaining ecosystem which lies in the district of Kottayam.
  • It is also an agricultural theme park having diverse agriculture and horticulture species including commercial crops like oilseeds, as well as stimulants and aromatic medicinal plants.
  • Even species like cardamom, usually found at higher altitudes, are grown.
  •  The property also covers various activities, including agriculture, animal husbandry, and dairy farming.
