1.ISRO chairman launches UNNATI programme
National space agency, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched the UNNATI (UNispace Nano-satellite Assembly and Training by ISRO) programme .It is an ISRO initiative to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first United Nations Conference on the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNISPACE+50).
2.Tripura unveils official logo for its tea
Tripura government has unveiled an official logo for the state’s tea to popularise the beverage and to promote the potentiality of tourism.This logo features landmark the ‘Neermahal’.Neermahal is a former royal palace built by King of Tripura Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur of the erstwhile Kingdom of Tripura.
3.Housing, Urban Affairs Ministry to organise Shehri Samridhi Utsav
Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is organising a fortnight of events named Shehri Samridhi Utsav all over the country focusing on urban livelihoods. The event aims at extending the outreach of National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) to the poorest of the poor and the most vulnerable, showcase its initiatives and facilitate access of SHG members to the other government schemes.
4.Tamil Nadu Defence Industrial Corridor Inaugurated
Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched a series of projects as a part of the Tamil Nadu Defence Industrial Corridor in Tiruchirppalli .It will help in accelerated growth of indigenous production.
5.Prominent Lingayat seer Shivakumara Swami dies at 111
Prominent Lingayat seer of Tumakuru-based Siddaganga Math, 111-year old Shivakumara Swamiji, who was known as the ‘Walking God’, passed away.He was battling a lung infection and was on life support.
6.Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) named as World Capital of Architecture for 2020
The Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro has been announced as the World Capital of Architecture 2020, as part of an initiative by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the International Union of Architects.Rio will be the first city to receive the title by both organizations.
7.Andry Rajoelina sworn in as Madagascar’s president
Andry Rajoelina was sworn in as President of Madagascar at capital city of Antananarivo.Madagascar is a huge island nation off the southeast coast of Africa. It’s home to thousands of animal species, such as lemurs, found nowhere else, plus rainforests, beaches and reefs.
8.Danish PM inaugurates cultural institute in India
Danish Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen inaugurated a Danish Cultural Institute in New Delhi.Headquartered in Denmark, DKI has been engaged in fostering mutual understanding between people and cultures since 1940.It also has branches in Belgium, Brazil, China, Latvia, Poland and Russia.
9.Ankita Raina wins ITF’s tournament in Singapore
India’s Ankita Raina has won the International Tennis Federation’s 25,000-dollar Women’s tournament in Singapore.In the Final, Ankita defeated top seed Arantxa Rus of the Netherlands.
10.Chennai Open Chess: Shyaam Nikhil, Lugovskoy share lead
Sharing the third spot half a point behind at 4.5 points were Grandmasters Paichadze Luka, Aleksandrov Aleksej (both Belarus), Erigaisi Arjun, Karthik Venkataraman (both India) among others. The first and third boards ended in peace, with Nguyen Van Huy – Luka and Karthik Venkataraman – Harikrishnan A Ra games concluding without a result.
