1.Women to get 20% jobs in Military Police
The government has decided to induct women for the first time in Personnel Below Officer Rank, PBOR, role in Corps of Military Police.Currently, women are allowed in select areas such as medical, legal, educational, signals and engineering wings of the Army. They will be appointed for the first time in Personnel Below Officer Rank, PBOR.
2.Celebration of 15th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas from 21-23 January, 2019
Tamil Nadu government released ‘Startup & Innovation policy 2018-2023’ with a mission of providing an enabling and innovative ecosystem for startups registered in the State and to make Tamil Nadu a ‘Global Innovation hub for startups’ by 2023.The mission shall aim for a minimum of 1,00,000 high skilled job creation, direct and indirect, in the Startup ecosystem.
5.Group insolvency: IBBI sets up committee under Sebi chairman UK Sinha
The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India has set up a 11-member working group for the concept of ‘Group Insolvency’ and to suggest a suitable framework for the same.The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India is the regulator for overseeing insolvency proceedings and entities like Insolvency Professional Agencies, Insolvency Professionals and Information Utilities in India.
6.WEF Annual Meet Begins in Switzerland
The annual meeting of World Economic Forum (WEF) will begin on Tuesday in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland. Union Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu will represent the nation in the four-day meet.The theme of the event: ‘Globalization 4.0: Shaping a Global Architecture in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution’.
7.World’s first artificial meteor shower blasted by Japan
Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency has launched Tokyo-based startup Star-ALE’s mini-satellite aimed to deliver the world’s first artificial meteor shower. The satellite carries 400 tiny balls, which the startup says will be enough for 20-30 events, that will glow as they rush down the atmosphere on being released.
8.Afghan President Ghani registered for presidential election
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani formally registered as a candidate for Afghanistan’s delayed presidential election, setting up a rematch with Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah in the July ballot. Mr.Ghani seeks a second term. He was elected in a fraud-tainted poll in 2014 that was only resolved in a U.S.-brokered power-sharing deal with Mr.Abdullah.
9.Saurashtra record highest successful chase in Ranji Trophy history
Saurashtra has created history in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2018-19. The team went on to chase 372 in the second Quarter Final against Uttar Pradesh while playing at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee International Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. Saurashtra went past the record of Assam which had chased down 371 while playing against the Services at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi in the 2008-09 season.
10.PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, Kidambi Srikanth to compete at Indonesia Masters
Olympic silver medallist P V Sindhu will resume her quest for glory in the new season, while Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth aim to continue their impressive run when they start their campaign at the Indonesia Masters, starting with qualifiers in Jakarta .The Indonesia Masters, past known as Indonesia Open Grand Prix Gold, is an international badminton tournament BWF World Tour Super 500 Grade.
