1.Long Range Surface to Air Missile Launched Off Odisha Coast by DRDO

DRDO has successfully test fired Long Range Surface to Air Missile (LR-SAM) from naval warship INS Chennai.The test was conducted off the coast of Odisha. The LR-SAM hit a low flying aerial target during the test.
2.India, Maldives agree to continue close cooperation on maritime security, counter-terrorism
 India and Maldives have agreed to continue their traditionally close cooperation on issues of maritime security, counter-terrorism and medical cooperation. Both sides held substantive discussions on further strengthening bilateral defence cooperation.
3.In first for Kashmir, Lance Naik Nazir Wani gets Ashok Chakra
Lance Naik Nazir Ahmad Wani will be posthumously conferred with the Ashoka Chakra.He laid down his life during an anti-terror operation at Batagund village in J&K’s Shopian in November last year.The Ashoka Chakra, India’s highest peacetime gallantry medal is a depiction of the dharmachakra; represented with 24 spokes. It is so called because it appears on a number of edicts of Ashoka, most prominent among which is the Lion Capital of Ashoka.
4.PSLV-C44 successfully launched Microsat-R and Kalamsat-V2 – ISRO
The Indian Space Research Organisation successfully launched the PSLV C 44 carrying Kalam sat and imaging satellite Microsat R. The satellite was launched from the Sathish Dhawan Space Centre Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. Kalamsat is a ten cm cube weighing one-kilogram communication satellite with a life span of two months.
5.Millennials will be eligible to vote for 1st time in 2019 general elections
Millennials will be eligible to vote for the first time in the general elections this year. Addressing the gathering on the National Voters’ Day celebrations in Delhi, the President said these first-time voters will determine the fate and future of 21st Century India. He said it is a matter of pride to be a voter in world’s largest democracy.

6.Sultan Abdullah elected new king of Malaysia

Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah was elected as Malaysia’s new king by the members of the country’s royal families.He replaced Sultan Muhammad V of Kelantan, who stepped down recently, making it the first abdication in Malaysia’s history.

7.UN chief warns against losing the race on climate change

United Nations chief Antonio Guterres  warned that the world is “losing the race” on climate change and demanded that governments make bolder commitments beyond the Paris accord.Nations would find the resolve but stressed that world needs political will and governments should understand that this is the most important priority of our times.The Paris climate accord has been shaken by the withdrawal of the United States under President Donald Trump and by threats to do the same by Brazil’s leader Jair Bolsonaro

8.US-India Business Council to hold its first India Idea Summit in Mumbai

The international panel held discussions on the current state of Ease of Doing Business in Maharashtra and also assured assistance in the field of drone technologies, artificial intelligence, and various digital initiatives.The U.S.-India Business Council is a business platform for strengthening commercial ties between India and the United States.

9.Shooter Apurvi Chandela Wins Gold at Meyton Cup

Shooter Apurvi Chandela from India has won gold in the women’s 10 metre Air Rifle event.Apurvi, who has already won the 2020 Olympic quota for the country, is a strong medal contender for next year’s Tokyo Games.Meyton Cup is a European Shooting Event which is being organised in Innsbruck, Austria.

10.AFC Asian Cup 2019: Clinical Japan stun Iran 3-0 to reach final

Werder Bremen striker Yuya Osako scored twice in 11 second-half minutes to help four-times champions Japan into the final of the Asian Cup with a 3-0 victory over tournament favourites Iran.The 2019 AFC Asian Cup is the 17th edition of the AFC Asian Cup, the quadrennial international men’s football championship of Asia organised by the Asian Football Confederation.
