1.ESPNcricinfo in partnership with IIT Madras launches data science based ‘Superstats’ to analyse Cricket games

Superstats, a new metrics to analyse the game of cricket, has been launched by ESPNcricinfo in partnership with Indian Institute of Technology Madras.

2.Supreme Court in favour of increasing random physical verification of VVPATs

The Supreme Court has said it was in favour of increasing random physical verification of Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) in parliamentary and Assembly polls, even as the idea was met with stiff resistance from the Election Commission of India.

3.World Forest Day: Kurian’s artificial forest finds place in book of records

The man-made forest at Ayamkudy, called mango meadows has now been placed in the Universal Records Forum World(URF) and Limca book of Record for developing the maximum number of agriculture and horticulture species in a minimum area of just 30 acres.


4.Japan donates $69 million to the United Nations World Food Programme

Japan has donated $69 million to the United Nations World Food Programme to provide vital aid to 28 countries in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, with the biggest shares of the money being earmarked for Yemen and Iraq.

5.PSLV-C45 project will mark several firsts for ISRO

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched the country’s first electronic surveillance satellite, EMISAT, from Sriharikota in coastal Andhra Pradesh. PSLV C-45/ Emisat mission is scheduled for launch on 1st April from Sriharikota.

6.‘Chandrayaan 2 will carry NASA’s laser instruments to Moon’

India’s lunar mission Chandrayaan 2, scheduled to launch next month, will carry NASA’s laser instruments that allow scientists to make precise measurements of the distance to the Moon, according to the US space agency officials.

7.Lalit Kala Academy announces 60th National Academy Awards winners

Lalit Kala Akademi (LKA) has announced 15 winners of the 60th Annual Academy Awards for the year 2017-2018. All the awardees were honored with a plaque, a shawl and prize money of Rs 1 lakh at the 60th National Exhibition of Art.

8.Government releases Rs 524 lakhs under BADP

The Jammu and Kashmir government has released Rs 524.25 lakhs under border area development programme (BADP) for utilization during the current financial year 2018-19.
